Payroll obligations at a glance

Wage Protection
Standardised monthly file via LMRA EMS; a Wage Responsible Person (WRP) with an advanced eKey authorises maker/checker. Transfers execute through CBB-approved, WPS-integrated banks and PSPs.
Social insurance (SIO)
SIO employer eServices handle registration, wage updates, invoices and payment; direct debit is available for contribution settlement. Bahraini-national contributions cover pension and unemployment branches.
End of service (EOSB)
Non-Bahrainis: 15 days per year (first 3 years), one month per year thereafter, on basic plus social allowance. Funded monthly via SIO (4.2% then 8.4%) since Mar 2024 (Resolution 109/2023).
Portal control
WRP/eKey authority, funding and final payment approval stay with the employer. No shared credentials or location masking.
Currency & cadence
BHD, monthly; the WPS file must be submitted each month via EMS regardless of changes.
Data controls
Data-processing agreement, documented transfer basis, access controls and audit logs where data is processed outside Bahrain.

How is end-of-service handled for expats in Bahrain?
Since March 2024 it is funded monthly through the Social Insurance Organisation (SIO), at 4.2% of basic pay for the first three years then 8.4%. The formula is 15 days per year for the first three years, then a month per year, and the worker claims from SIO.
Who pays social insurance in Bahrain?
Bahraini nationals are covered by SIO pension and unemployment branches; non-Bahrainis are covered through the SIO-funded end-of-service benefit rather than a pension.
